After you set variants and pricing, you have the option to use the values in that Variants & Pricing section.
Setting the Use Defaults toggle to ON:
- This will use the costs, prices, PAR Levels, and Reorder Quantities set in the Variants & Pricing section.
- When you update a default value, all locations using defaults will be updated simultaneously.
Setting the Use Defaults toggle to OFF:
- This will let you set custom costs, prices, PAR Levels, and Reorder Quantities for that location.
You can think of this is a location "override". Suppose you have 5 locations, and the pricing is the same at all of them except one. The majority 4 will "Use defaults", and the other can have its own details.
If you only have 1 location, this feature can be used for temporary changes. For example, I may normally sell my product for $10, but want it temporarily listed at $8. I can turn Use Defaults off and set my new price to $8. When the sale is over, all I need to do is turn Use Defaults back on and the item will revert to its usual price without having to type it in again.
