Let's say we're on the Professional Plan currently. The Professional Plan comes with 3,001 - 10,000 transactions per month. (Other plan details can be found here.)

We've had 27,000 transactions in the last 90 days (3 months).

27,000 ÷ 3 (months) = 9,000 transactions/month (on average)

9,000 transactions per month will put us towards the top end of the Professional Plan tier (3,001 - 10,000 transactions/month), but well within the limits, so no action is needed.

-----

Transactions increase

Now let's say we have a big sale over the next four days and the number of transactions spikes up. Those four days are now taken into the calculation while the oldest four days will fall off, giving us a total of 90 days.

Our new 90-day total is 28,500.

28,500 ÷ 3 (months) = 9,500 transactions/month (on average)

9,500 transactions/month is still well within our limits for the Professional Plan, so no action is needed.

-----

Transactions increase out of plan limits

Let's say the sale is going so well, that we decided to extend it for another seven days. The new calculation will take in those seven days, while the oldest days will fall off.

Remember, we're only taking into account the last 90 days, so each day the numbers will change.

The sale is going so well that our new last 90 days total is 33,000 transactions.

33,000 ÷ 3 (months) = 11,000 transactions/month (on average)

11,000 transactions/month would put us at the Elite level. Still, no action is needed at this time, and Thrive will not send any notification about upgrading.

-----

Exceed Plan Limits and Next Steps

Now, the sale is over, but your transactions are still up (Hooray!). More people found out about your business, or maybe you recently opened a new location and business is booming. So much so that your Average Monthly Transaction Usage is consistently over your Professional Plan's monthly allowance.

Once you've been over on our plan's transaction allowance for 16 days out of a sliding 30-day window, then you will be prompted to upgrade your plan or purchase an add-on. You must either upgrade your plan or purchase an add-on within 7 days of you being over your transaction limit for 51% of a month.

You will upgrade your plan, or purchase an add-on from the Billing page.

  • NOTE: Consider switching to an annual plan to save money on your Thrive subscription!
